well done, the modelling is sick.
i feel like colours don't work, with the unsaturaed gradient-ish colour compositioning. the generic metaballs also threw me off. If you spend more time on photoshop and/or cinema4d getting the colours right, you could make these scenes way more lively and.. over-realistic thus even more beautiful.

Haha man i spent 60 hours on this including postwork, I actually played with the colors for a while. They were very intentional, to have something unsaturated, and while it used to look gradient I dont think it looks as much anymore(didnt really use a gradient haha) the normal colors were actually purple and pink, but I thought something blue and green would be more realistic. Not trying to put down your comment, but I actually thought the use of metaballs in this way was original. I havn't seen lightning metaballs attacking a ship before haha

yeah, i understand. It just seems like it because each specific area (the 2d area) has like it's own colour assigned to it, and the transitions between all the different colours is really smooth, like a gradient. In my opinion it would look better if you assigned the colour to each "(3d) level" in the piece. The whole background in blue, the ships in green and the front ship in purple, for example. This would make it easier to view the depth, and lay the focus that could direct your eyes along the piece. It would generally look better.
But hey, it's just critique, don't mean to come across as negative. All these pieces are good, keep it up mate
