Main Entry:
Prompt: (Combined Prompts #1 & #2)
Prompt 1:
You have spent some time with the Black Market Drakehest and they seem to get accustomed to your company. At some point they even show a little spark of playful and carefree behavior.
Depict this moment and how it went. (Playing tag in the snow)
Prompt 2:
No one can say for sure what the Black Market Drakehest experienced in the past and what they are sensitive to. You try your best to provide them a comforting environment, but something still managed to trigger fears hidden beneath the surface.
Depict how you managed to calm the Drakehest. (Fear of Chains after uncovering a bear trap; the sight and sound, even the smell of the metal triggers him, as he was kept chained within his stone stall. Hina let out a burst of calming magic and called his name to calm him down.)

~Continued From Main Entry~
This is the place that no one sees
I don't like to show
(I can't help it)
This is the darkness over me
It's just the world I know
(I can't stand it)
Reachin' for the light
Reachin' from inside
Help me tonight

~STORY~
The next day after their first meeting, they met later in the day since they had stayed awake late the night before, watching the Aurora Borealis. So it was late afternoon when Hina took Hraun out again, though this time, she took him to one of her favorite areas of the beautiful snow covered woods. They quickly began another game of snow tag, and Hina was so happy. The sun was starting to set, so the trees and snow looked like they were aflame with orange and purple shades. The snow even looked like it was glittering.
"You can't catch me!," Hraun called, a smirk on his muzzle. Hina laughed as she tried to tag him. But he was always just out of her reach, despite his extremely long tail. It was like he was toying and teasing her, and Hina just couldn't stand for that. She was going to tag him if it killed her!
So, as part of her plan to finally tag Hraun, she leaped for him, trying to tackle him, only for him to dodge out of the way at the last second, surprise in his eyes. But it was what happened next that Hina would never forget. One second, Hraun was laughing and playing, and the next, Hina heard a metallic sound, like the sound of a chain rattling, and then Hraun screamed in terrified fear.
I'm closer to the edge
Tonight I'm standin' on the ledge
So why won't you reach out your hand
To save (to save), to save me
Tonight I'm damaged if you dare
Tonight it feels like no one cares
So why can't I come up for air?
Just save (just save), just save me
What are you waitin' for?
Someone save me
Hina watched as Hraun reared, his eyes rolling and white, the picture of terror, and at his hooves, just out of reach and recently uncovered by Hraun when he kicked the snow away from their game, sat a shiny new bear trap, compete with iron chain staked into the ground. Hraun screamed again, causing Hina to snap into action.
She quickly used her Seidr that allowed her to manipulate emotions to send heaps upon heaps of calming energy to Hraun, which caused him to immediately back off and close his eyes tightly with a whimper. Once Hina was sure Hraun was safely out of the way, Hina quickly used her Seidr again to quickly turn the illegal bear trap into a pine cone. She would have normally done a flower, but since it was still winter, it would just die, so she chose the seed of a tree instead. then Hina stood where the bear trap used to be and faced Hraun, to ensure he would see HER, and not what used to be there. As she kept sending him calming energy, Hina began the process of talking to him to calm him even further.
"It's ok, it's gone, it's just me here...Breath in through your nose, and out through your mouth...That's it, slowly...Breath in the good, and out the bad...That's right, slowly...," Hina kept up her encouraging talking until she could see Hraun fully calm, and staring at her in wonder. Hina cut off the calming energy flow and blinked up at him, waiting for him to possibly explain what had just happened. Hina was unsure exactly what had triggered Hraun or why, she just knew it had something to do with the bear trap somehow. He he gotten caught in one before?
Finally, after what seemed like ages, Hraun finally responded, though reluctantly.
"I...I am sorry...about that...," he began awkwardly, unease in his voice as he continued on," I...uh...I...have an issue...with...chains...," he trailed off, causing Hina to blink up at him, as she patiently waited for a more thorough explanation. Hraun sighed, and if he had been human, he would ave rubbed his head in nervousness. He had never opened up to anyone yet, much less spoke of his triggers. He was just freshly out of that environment, so everything was still very fresh in his mind.
"Uh...They used to...chain me...in my stall...They disliked that I tried to fight them every time they forced me into the Arena to fight for my life and kill dragons...I hated it...," Hraun trailed off in a whsiper, shame coating his voice like venom. Hina's eyes softened in understanding and she reached forward and wrapped her neck around his again in a hug, and they just stood like that for a few minutes, just basking in each other's energy and Hraun had never felt so accepted in his long life, not even by his mother, whom he barely remembered.
"I'll be here..," Hina whispered fiercely, her eyes closed tightly against the outside world, and Hraun's heart melted. Maybe...he could trust again?
...Just maybe...
