GJ! That would look even better if you did a chrome texture and gave it a Hard Light effect.

voodoo... why on earth does he want to anti-alias reflections and refractions in a scene that has no reflection or refraction? offering incorrect advice is a bit of a sin

anti-aliasing of the image is a totally different thing. if you want to change that, use the anti-alias filter thingo in the render settings dialogue. but the default one is fine for pretty much everything.

he's right about the subdivisions. meshsmooth would be an excessive way to do it, since it puts a massive amount of extra polygons on an object to make it smooth. but more subdivisions would make the curve smoother.

it looks like you made the shapes with the loft tool - in which case you'd have to change the 'skin' parameters of the loft instead of 'subdivisions' but it's basically the same. i think 'path steps' is the setting your'e after, but i'm not sure.

anyway - keep it up man
note me if you need a hand with anything.

hum ok.. some hints...
1. put some meshsmooth or put the subdivisions up in the tubes so they dont look so cornered... it becomes smoother...

2. in the material editor go under reflections and put on raytrace...
and under refractions the same...

3. maybe make the background... different? render.. lightining effects or something.. ( under photoshop ) comes cooler..

4. cool stuff for ur 2nd thing keep practicing on
