Description A quick reference sheet I drew up for the old journal style so people didn't have to fuss through dA's source code to make their journal CSS.

The new default journal style (with round edges) has a different and more complicated structure. I think the old version is easier to work with, so thankfully we can still use it - just use the old classes found in the reference above and it will trigger dA to use the old layout.

Guides for the new structure have been created by `xork : [link] - and `ginkgografix has made one that compares the old with the new: [link]

Note that you must be a premium member (have a subscription) to use CSS in your journal.

If you're new to CSS, you should aslo check out html dog's beginner's guide to css , which is a great place to start. If anyone pointed you to w3schools, give them a smack

don't worry, i can still understand what you mean

What you need to do is add padding-top:90px!important; to .journaltop in your CSS - it will push the title past the image

(also, if you want the image to be center like you title, change the background-position:middle center; to background-position:center top; )

hahaha i can manage basic html (i learned it when i was five or six) but aside from that.....I have to keep reference pages or tutorials bookmarked. LOL.

oh hun I never grasped the concept of HTML. there's only a few things that I can do, like the bold and the Italics and a center but that's about all. I can't even figure out the font thing..If I could I would have done my whole website just like I wanted without having to pay someone else to do it. basic HTML is complecated to me. maybe I'm an old fart that can't do a few things that are simple for others...call me a turd...

One note, though... I don't think the journal icon is an i tag. It looks to be just a regular img tag.

This all rocks.. now that I figured it all out with a chick's help. CSS totally freaked me out about 6 hrs ago.. once I understood it all.. everything took about half an hour. Now all I need to do is figure out how the HECK to apply background images But that can come later. I am just happy with my pink/rose colored journal. It rocks my socks off.

Thx for this!

added to faves just incase i can ever get myself a subscription.
scanned through the comments quickly and buying the subscription for that guy was awsome of you

is the use of css on subscriber accounts a recent addition?
subscription seems more and more tempting everyday

:]

very recent addition

=duhcoolies has a contest going, if your design is one of the (last time i checked) 20 winners, you get yourself a 3 month subscription, and if need be I (or two other CSS maestros) help you code it
