I never get ashamed of this! ^^ I think using references, or tracing a particular thing (environment, vehicle) doesn't mean "to not be able to draw"
Especially in comics, in which you have not soooo much time!

If you don't reference things and draw based only on how you see things in your mind you can only get so accurate when you try to depict scenes. I remember a time where people were like NO REFF'S IT'S CHEATING! XD What a silly thing!
