In a world where humanity had long ago scrubbed itself from existence. The animals inherited the world, becoming the sentient races of the world. Beasts thrive in the ruins of society as we know it. But the world has grown far deadlier and the post apocalyptic levels of survival are still nessisary. The Common Beast lives teetering on the brink of comfortable life in small communities, or fighting for survival with little to no warning.
In the midst of this toil of stockpiling supplies and trying to keep themselves from perishing due to the elements, monsters, or bandits, myths of 'Mage Beasts' spread like wild fire. They look just like any other Beast. But thier blood carries the Mage Marks. Marks provide them with super natural powers. Some use them to opress, others to aid thier communities.
Gunther lived a simple life in the Lowburrows when a series of unfortunate and traumatic events lead to the dissolving of his life as he knew it, and the full awakening of his Marks. A burnt down home, a family he can't go back to, and no understanding of what he's capable of doing, Gunther sought the help of professionals. Leading to his internment at Green Meadows Asylum, and the start of his story.
