Representations are of majority not entirety of military personel in each region. For example, many wolves have served with distinction in the Central Plains and Ainivals militarys. Its just that more Foxes and Martens serve in those lands.

In the Central Plains, there are large expanses of open feilds, Mountains to the North East, and a handful of mountais in the South, forming a pass.
Forests are genneraly cluttered around the handful of lakes and rivers, and the climate is fairly mild in genneral. Haveing to boarder the Southern Empire, the Plains people have known the horrers of war for some time. Even with the Western coalition preaching for boarderless countries and tolleration of all, the Plains refuse to buy into it, and on large have prepaired for another crusaide.
With a disapointed Coalition to the West, and thier suspected enemy to the South, the Plains seeks allies in like minded individuals such as the Northlanders, and peoples of Ainiavals. While some have caved to Coalition pandering, most still remember what it was like to be ocupied by the Empire years ago and arnt ready to repeat it.
The genneral issue gear of a Plainsman Footsolider, is a round shield, and a longsword. As thier doctirne tends to involve defences, that move up with the line, as well as a fair amount of misdirection, armor is genneraly on a role to role basis. If your on the phalanx, you get a full suit, if your a flanking skirmisher, you tend to keep to chainmail.
Northlanders, genneraly a larger people, are not weighed down so easily. Large steel plated shields, massive full plate armor, layered underneith by padded leathers. These titans genneraly keep pace with smaller folk easily at a marching pace, and have mentalitys that relish in the fight. Its not uncommon to see one raise his axe over head and lunge into a formation with reckless abandon, howling something about going to some great dineing hall or something.
Then theres Ainiavals, a small kingdom just to the East of the Plains. During the First Crusaide, they were the front line. Their military was thrashed repeatedly, and many villages were razed, looted, and enslaved. Each time they lost, not only did support for fighting back grow, they also learned new ways to fight. Battle alchemy was born. Small fragmentation and incindiary bombs are handed to each solider, who at this point were mostly women and children. The tides turned quickly as the Southern Impirials fled explosions and fire the couldnt explaine, and the war was won as Plains folk stormed in to form the second wave. Now, the women and children of the last Crusaide make up the bulk of the to-date Ainiavals miltary leadership, being vetrens, and experts on Impirial tactics. The common solider carrys a kite shield, a spear, and a falx, as well as the bombs invented years ago. They may be small, they may be unasumeing and genneraly passive. But never underestimate 'Valian.
