Description
He walked upon the decaying ground, hearing only his deep breaths and the low hum of his feet beating against the land. Tired … His face soft in serenity making it so difficult to believe he brought death to so many. His eyes, the lightest shade of blue, tearing up in the shame of another life taken. His lips, slightly opened as drops of blood slid over to his chin, and withered away into the vast emptiness before it came close to falling upon ground. His long locks of black had been tied behind him, making him seam a lot less beastlike than he had been thought of by the humans that have never feasted their eyes upon him. He looked more like a mortal man than most of the villagers had. A civilized one even, his body not having a trace of dirt except for the thick drops of crimson staining his flesh. His hands were moistened by the blood of his last victims, and their screams, still echoed within his mind.
Such a pained glare formed in his eyes knowing that he had once more devoured a fated being. Why did they resist him? They knew death would come to them as they entered his forest. They knew it had been written in the stars, and still, they’d entered, only to squirm as they received their punishment.
It’s not that he was a frigid being, just enraged with his duty of bearing death, and annoyed with his desire and yearning for the ruby-colored liquid that flowed through the veins of the humans. That powerful aspiration was most likely his only weakness other than his great setback of not being able to control his anger. He wasn’t mean. He was just so disturbed with how his life was led that he couldn’t take seeing joy. Seeing the thirst of wanting to be let to live. It annoyed him.
Humbaba was a sleepless being. An insomniac. A typical creature of the night, roaming the forest and basking in the decayed presence of nothingness. A fiend. Surely, that, he was. But so much more of a simple being, as everyone else made up lies. Breathing fire? He was not a God, so why did they think he could perform such a task? He was powerful, and could easily destroy anyone standing in his way, but he had not been brutal. He let his victims die a quick death. Painful, yes, but quick.
Would anyone ever begin to look past all of his murders? He was a simple animal having to feed upon another animal to survive. Such hypocrisy if they thought him to be more than that. They let lions frolic and live, but did they see that they murdered other beings, as well? Such double standards …
Humbaba was nothing out of the ordinary …

I LOVE it, Syl! The characters descriptions rock! I'll get started on the concept designs right away ;D
and for a random thought:
the name "Humbaba" is cool because when I hear it... It sounds like some kind of legendary monster in some tribal flick. I picture a bunch of, like, African natives being all "Oh noo! Eet eez Humbaba! We moost RUN!"
