Description
You don’t see me.
I’m not sure if I want you to.
I fly past you,
Still trying to control my wings.
You flinch.
My dust has scratched your eye.
You look around,
But you don’t see me.
I’m sure I don’t want you to.

Tonight, I sat on your shoulder.
You walked home in the rain.
I don’t want to think about what would’ve happened,
If your hood didn’t protect me.
I’m still soaking wet.

You sat upon your bed.
The same bed I used to lie on.
Looking at it only made the void deepen.
I wasn’t supposed to be with you,
But you didn’t know I was there.
I still didn’t want you to.

My eyes took a thousand photos.
The details of your face wouldn’t be lost.
I brushed my hands against your hair,
But we could barely feel each other.
You were so far from me.
I was fading away.

Tonight, I flew back home,
Accompanied by the lonely beating of my heart.
We used to be in sync,
But now you play a different tune.
It bothers me even more than it used to.

But tomorrow, as I fly again,
And attempt to keep a steady pace,
It’ll hurt even more when I see you.
And I do want you to see me.
But you’re not going to.

Don’t you understand?
I’ve grown so small that you can’t recognize.
I’m an insect sinking in the rain.
And it does rain all the time.
And your hood won’t always protect me,
Because nothing is as I want it to be.
