A photo I took at the Thanksgiving Day Parade in NYC. I developed it myself in the darkroom, and I'm still getting used to doing color film. I realise it's a bit dark

That is a very good photo! I love 'Macy's Thanksgiving Parade'! I watch it on tv every Thanksgiving morning. I don't care much for the dancers and cheerleaders in the first half but I love seeing the Floats and the Balloons.

My Mom recorded this year's parade on DVD. We always watch it live on NBC! I really liked that the Foster's Float returned and I thought the Shrek balloon was very cool.

The dark is what makes this good, in my opinion. I'm drawn to the image of bright colors on an overcast day. They wash out and seem so ineffective. There's a certain sadness to this, but it's also got a great quality of keeping on, no matter what the cost ("sisu" is the Finnish term) that makes it more appealing. Strength through adversity: the stubborn insistance to have a good time.
I don't know what that pink thing is in the top left corner. It draws from the overall perfection of the image, and I personally think it would be better without the frames.

Thank you, and thanks for the fav! The pink thing is the corner of my aunt's umbrella, who was trying to shield me and my camera from the rain. I could crop the frame out, but it will always be in the orginal, since the darkroom for color prints is extremely dark, I have to use the frame so I know where to put my paper.

Maybe you could photoshop away the umbrella? If you feel it would detract from the realism of the image, don't; I'd see your point.
