Description
This is a completely fictional deep-space vehicle, with a passing nod to 'realism'.
Video:
Largely inspired by NASA's Discovery II and Nautilus-X designs, as well as fictional craft such as the Hermes (from The Martian) and other recent films.
There's probably lots of inaccuracies and mistakes, mostly due to personal aesthetic choices.
Intended for extended missions to Mars, the Jovian moons, and beyond...
Certain assumptions are made, including but not limited to:
* Partial gravity is effective in countering health issues caused by long-term exposure to microgravity.
* Viable fusion technology has been developed
* Assembly in orbit using extensive pre-existing infrastructure in the Earth/Moon system
* Outer planet missions use pre-deployed assets, or ISRU technology for refueling
Length ~650m
Width ~140m
Crew ~10
Centrifuge:
~70m radius
2.2 RPM
0.38G
* Uses autonomous load-balancing system integrated within the outer shell framework
* Rotational torque is countered by flywheels and gyroscopic stabilisers
* Not shown are the hundreds of handholds for use during EVA operations, and the reaction control thrusters
