This was my post for Christmas 2022. Originally, I was only going to draw just the first panel as an illustration for a dream diary which I felt words couldn't accurately convey. I soon realized the entire scenario could not be conveyed too well by words, and spent 3 days working on it (getting less than 2 hours of work in per day instead of my, back then, usual 4+)

As a meta-joke, if you compare this with my last Christmas drawing which I did without Jane's input, it's clear I guessed wrong what a mouse Christmas tree should look like.

Depicted here are Jane carrying in the bough, her fur and whiskers frosted up slightly; Susan, her daughter, depicted here at her species' equivalent of 16 (when she caught up to me in height and also caught up to me in magical ability); and me, the husband/father, as the naysayer to ruin the fun. The tree is decorated with tinsel (made from ...wait for it... tin foil), baubles (made from discarded beads tied on to the branches with red ribbons), and paper snowflakes. Although it's unrealistic that they'd decorate the tree fast enough for Jane's fur to not defrost or indeed so fast that she wouldn't take off her coat, I thought she wouldn't be recognizable if I made a big change like that between the last two panels.

I do regret how I rushed drawing myself. Although I am canonically younger and shorter than Jane, I feel like I look too young in this picture, making it hard to tell whether Jane is my wife or my mother.
