Description I'm not really sure about Halloween, but I heard that Halloween is one of the liminal times of the year when spirits can make contact with the physical world. I thought it's similar to O-bon.
O-bon is a Japanese Buddhist holiday to honor the departed (deceased) spirits of one's ancestors.
So I came up with this idea

I really like the aspect of the lantern and the lights that surround them. They're like souls that are floating around and above them. A serious and slightly festive picture, I like it. The lettering is very well placed and even your signature gives the picture a little something more. I really like that. ^^ It doesn't ruin the picture like others tend to do, it adds to it Always love your work and I appreciate that you share it with us!

Very awesome, Sakan-san I love the new top art!

Hallow's Eve's a lot like what you've described but in America it has turned into a time to honor all sorts of ghouls and monsters. We dress up in costumes and go around collecting candy - I fear it's become to merchandized instead of an honoring holiday, however

In Mexico it's more like what you've described as "O-bon" - their's is "Day of the Dead" where souls of the departed are supposed to come home to treats that their families have made for them while children dance around in skeleton costumes.

Awesome picture I love the detail!

This is a very nice picture. Haunting, yet beautiful. Halloween, from what I understand was a pagan holiday where people would dress up to scare off evil spirits, though some sources say it was to honor a god. Then the Christians decided to have thier own holiday since they didn't believe that way, on the same day and it was called all hollows eve, I think that was when they celebrated the saints, like Mary, John, those kinds of people which makes me think it might have started as Catholic cause of that, but I'm not sure. Then I think the main media took control over it and turned into somehting completely different. So it's kinda back and forth. The brief history lesson is now over. thanks for listening.

Yeah it's a pagan holiday, who cares. The fun thing is kids can dress up and go door to door saying ' trick or treat' and get candy. In my case, my kid likes to dress up the house with pretty spooky and creepy decorations and hand out candy.

Halloween is a pagan holiday where people would make noise and dress up to scare away the spirits that would creep out at this time of year and put them back to rest until next year.

It has somehow turned into kids dressing up and going door to door to get candy.

Welcome back. This is very interesting. You used the Mikey, Leo and Raph from the Time Travel Saga when Don was catapulted 10 (or was it 20) years into the future. Nice work.

Mikey: "Let's go see Master Splinter."
Don: "Are leo and Raph with him?"
Mikey: "Are you kidding? Leo and Raph aren't with anyone anymore."

OMG this is so cool!!!
Yep, maybe I think that O-bon is similar to halloween.
But it looks much more similar to Italy's day of the deads(1st november) were everybody goes to the cimitery to take flowers to the beloved ones or just to remeber the good days and stuff like that

Halloween actually came to America from Irish immigrants. O' Hallo's Eve; it was actually a harvest festival that was to celebrate the end of the year and the beginning of a new one. Samhein night (what we call Halloween now) was the time that people stayed home and left whiskey and food offerings out on the front step for departed souls. Trick or Treating started in old England where people who had little food would go door to door on O' Hallo's Eve and gather Soul Cakes from more fortunate people. These cakes were eaten as a sort of prayer for the dead.

I don't know much about O-bon, but I know that Halloween is very much a tradition throughout the USA.

And as for the picture, it's kind of sad to be honest. I just want to hug them all...

Sakan san~ haven't see you on DA for long!

Chinese also have "ghost day" that called Qing Ming. But not as entertaining as Holloween or O-bon, everyone have to be (or pretent to be) sad for their family members who passed away....orz
