Description
Fleet’s shrill cries pierced the crisp autumn air. The colt shrieked, bolting from his feline attacker. Cadel turned swiftly from his herd, moving faster than one might think possible towards the source of the noise. His dark eyes quickly settled on one of the younger residents of the herd, Fleet, losing a race away from a cougar. Cadel called out to Fleet as he managed to catch up to the large cat, striking it with a hoof as it turned and yowled at him. Fleet shrieked, running farther from the scene and leaving Cadel to fight off the irate cougar who had planned on having a colt-shaped snack. Cadel flinched away from the cougar’s flying claws, dropping his shoulder as the cat’s claw snagged his skin. Continuing to kick and bite at the cougar, Cadel finally managed to plant his hoof so hard that the cat, yowling and shrieking, turned and ran, its tail between its legs. Cadel straightened and, ignoring the throbbing pain resonating from his shoulder, trotted off in search of Fleet.
