Description
Just a quick sketch. I will hopefully get around to drawing her proper reference picture very soon. She just hasn't been in the mood to stand still lately.Name: Modthryth
Gender: Mare
Breed: Australian Warmblood
Breed Grading: Quality
Age: 5 years
Height: 16hh
Genetics: EE-AtAt
Appearance: Seal Bay with a snip and ermine marks around all four hooves.
About this horse: A diva, this mare is the queen of the herd. She is bossy around other horses, including stallions and isn’t afraid of throwing her weight around the get the best of everything. She is an interesting horse to work with; she is pushy on the ground and stubborn under saddle but has stunning movement and a charisma that can’t be taught. She will need some training to get her competition ready as she does not do well working with other horses and will need a firm hand to make sure she doesn’t get too high an opinion of herself and stops listening to her handlers.
Name meaning: Modthryth is named for the queen in Beowulf who was both beautiful and ruthless, sentencing all men to death for merely looking at her. Only her lord was allowed to do that! She seems to have also had a great deal of power, given that her father or husband, which ever he was, was letting her go around killing their men without good cause. A diva if there ever was one! She was eventually "tamed" by King Offa and was a devoted and excellent queen thereafter. Rebecca's endlessly Anglo-Saxon obsessed brain jumped at the similarities, and no one could change her mind.
