Well, you'll have more success if you increase the contrast between the text and the background color. Especially on buttons which need to be quickly read.

There is a kind of misconception that slick design is more important than usability on the web. One that will quickly come to ruin a lot of well paid web designer's careers as it sinks in that usability is all that users care about on the web. Given the choice between awesome looking or meeting their needs, they pick their needs every time.

Bear that in mind, and pass it on. As the game designers say "Gameplay is king"

Web professionals should take up the mantra "Usability is King"
