Description
This one took a long, long time...ofc, there were 6 animals to draw. Had a lot of fun making these. Coming up with color schemes, making custom feather brushes, fixing inaccuracies, etc.Related content

Still kind of weird to see Deinonychus so puny. Great work, regardless!

I never realized how big Utahraptor actually was until now.
Kinda scary tbh

This is awesome, and it's on Wikipedia. I always wondered who drew this when researching Raptors,Β and now I have found the artist. Good job!

Funny thing is that if these fellows were still around, we probably would have classified them as birds centuries ago.

Haha.
But let's face it. If Velociraptor or any other Dromaeosaurids were still around, they would probably be called Murder Birds or something similar.

Are you sure the sizes are correct? As far as I know, the Microraptor should be 77 cm long, the Velociraptor 2.07 m long, the Austroraptor 6 m long, the Dromaeosaurus 2 m long, the Utahraptor 6 m long, and the Deinonychus 3.4 m long.

Microraptor's color comes off as less accurate than it was intended to be, and Deinonychus is a meter too small.
Otherwise, nice

The Deinonychus is seems to have the correct length (3.4 m), it just looks smaller because of its head position. It also seems to have the correct hip height (0.87 m). But I agree with that the Microraptor should be darker even with iridescence taken into account.

The Deinonychus seriously looks like it's 2.5 meters, compared with a 1.8 meter tall man.
The Velociraptor and Dromaeosaurus are a bit undersized as well.

mark0731 In reply to PCAwesomeness [2017-10-14 10:35:08 +0000 UTC]
Now that I have looked at it again, it really doesn't seem to be 3.4 m long, but not 2.5 m long eirher. In that position, it really looks like about 2.5 m long, but in a complete side view it would be about 3 m long.

Was deinoychus really that small... and austroraptor so big?!?
I always tought those two were the same size

Corallianassa In reply to HySarcus [2017-10-12 19:32:15 +0000 UTC]
Β this Deinonychus is not scaled to the biggest specimen around. This is understandable, because the largest specimen might be another species than D.antirrhopus. (That specimen is ~3.8 m long and ~1m tall, so a fair bit bigger than the one in this chart)

mark0731 In reply to HySarcus [2017-10-11 18:53:41 +0000 UTC]
Actually Deinonychus was up to 3.4 m long, while Austroraptor was up to 6 m.

5 meters? Are you sure you weren't confusing it with Achillobator?

It looks very nice, though I have to say that the Utahraptor, Dromeosaurus and Deinonychus coloration look very similar to one another, then afain most modern raptors tend to have similar colorations with a few outliers.
