thanks hon.... it just popped out of my mind into the screen... LOL of course the Dark Lord (you know who) was faster with his contest entry and I had to modify my initial concept... but this one came out quite nice

Hehhe cute idea
I was always interested about stories, where machines/andorids/ect. has the urge to become a human or has already a human apperance, but needs a soul or such.
Such as in the Bicentennial Man or in a few anime (such as Chobits) and comics

Fredy3D In reply to Tanathiel [2007-10-28 18:54:20 +0000 UTC]

Bicentennial Man is one of my favourite movies even if it was no success on the big screen. But I seem to have a faible for such movies... LOL

Chobits is of course standing in my bookshelf. One of the best mangas I have read. And I am of course a big fan of Ghost in the Shell, I Robot, Bladerunner etc....

Well, it seems that the non-mainstream films are still popular among the people who like quality and great story too

It is a pity, that only 2 Asimow adaptation exists... I would welcome more from that story-line :3
Have you seen the Chobits anime ? It is a bit different from the manga, but still, I just love the opening music :3
Here is the opening from YouTube:

You can find the whole anime there too btw XD

That's an awesome idea for the evolution contest - I wanted to enter it but couldn't think of anything that fits the theme. If it depends on my your entry will be the winner!

Fredy3D In reply to ken1171 [2007-10-28 07:48:55 +0000 UTC]

Thanks a lot. I had to do something different since the evolution from human to cyborg was already "burned" in my last evolution pic, so I thought to take a look from the other side... and you know I love this "robot-wants-to-be-human" thingy....

ken1171 In reply to Fredy3D [2007-10-28 08:15:52 +0000 UTC]

I know how that is - I have been reading Isaac Asimov robot books since I was a kid.
And you have a pretty original concept there - I think you will win! ^____^

There are still some parts which could be improved but overall I am really satisfied how this came out.

Currently I am reading an "old" book from Robert A. Heinlein... I do so love the old SciFi books from the fifties...

ken1171 In reply to Fredy3D [2007-10-28 08:31:17 +0000 UTC]

Me too! Have you ever read the Perry Rhodan series?
I used to love those books! ^___^

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Fredy3D In reply to ken1171 [2007-10-28 08:39:59 +0000 UTC]

Perry... yes... read a lot but it is quite some years ago...
Here in Germany it is natural for nearly every male scifi addict to read it in some point of time

I am still having about 1800 PR novels, 300 paperbacks and 40 books in my library (most stored in the attic)
The series is still running over here, current issue is 2410....

ken1171 In reply to Fredy3D [2007-10-28 08:50:53 +0000 UTC]

My mother was the one reading the Perry Rhodan books since the 1960's and it was only natural that I would eventually find the books and start reading them during the 1980's. Way back then I had no idea they were written in Germany because I was reading them in English. I didn't know the were still being published in Germany!!! We are then very close to make 50 years of PR books being written!!

Fredy3D In reply to ken1171 [2007-10-28 09:03:57 +0000 UTC]

Yes... lot's of generation of writers and readers... their german site but might still be interesting [link]

ken1171 In reply to Fredy3D [2007-10-28 09:35:50 +0000 UTC]

Amazing, I had no idea those books are still being published. The only reason I stopped reading them was because the PR stories completely lack romance and I couldn't help noticing that when I got to my teenager years.

Fantastic job Fredy. I really like the skeleton in the glassy figure.

Fredy3D In reply to parrotdolphin [2007-10-28 07:51:24 +0000 UTC]

Thanks. The skeleton in the see-though-figure was the "render-killer" since I had to boost the antialiasing settings to get the skeleton free of artifacts which were caused by the transparency from the glassy figure... but looks cool in the end

parrotdolphin In reply to Fredy3D [2007-10-28 14:05:48 +0000 UTC]
