Freedom-Falling [2012-07-01 13:52:54 +0000 UTC]

Reasons this photo is fake:

Firstly the most obvious: the image on the sidewalk is clearly overlapping the green plastic bag. Only way that could happen is with a lovely little tool called Clone Stamp. Unless the matrix just glitched.

Secondly, let's talk about the chalks on the right of the man. Those aren't actually there. They are too flat to and devoid of the proper shadows to be actually there. So those too are manipped into this image to give the man an appearance that he is just SO artistic.

Third - No douchbag in any country would just walk past some guy chalking it up on the street. These people passing by are obviously doing so because he's a beggar.

Fourth - If he's so poor to be asking for what looks like some old lady's loose change from her purse, then how in hades can he even afford to buy all those chalks, not to mention that fancy plastic bucket to hold his money?

Fifth - He has no chalk stains on his fingers or clothing anywhere. DA FAQ?!?!

Sixth - (getting winded) If the chalks to the left of the guy are ACTUALLY there, then underneath that borneo-esque drawing on the street is probably something draw reminiscent of childhood hopscotch or stick figures. Maybe even magical ponies or I dunno...a picture of food or something.

Seventh - No artist is going to just let his prized tools chill in the middle of the street while tons of flat-fooded passers-by flit past him. With that knowledge, we can also see that WTF why does he even have that much chalk out to "draw" something that only uses maybe 5 pieces shown. Which also brings me to another conclusion, how in the heck did he draw something so large with only a small amount of chalk? yeah..not gonna happen.

AND LASTLY - This just screams staged to me. If a guy so busy drawing this masterpiece on the road (without chalk marks on hands again) has time to hold up a money bucket for the photographer at just the right moment, well. that just doesn't sit right with me.

Sorry Deviantart. Logic wins this one, again. I have tons of fantastic crap like this in my gallery no DD for me :{

Dear lord. Google chalk art plz.
In fact here you go - [link] .

I've seen people do chalk art like this in person, they usually make the chalk themselves and use it up in their piece.

so you're mad because someone else got a DD and you have not?

um stuff happens, and no i don't think this is a manip, its just his style of editing his photos. someone likes it clearly (a lot of people like it) because he's gotten other DDs. sorry!

Google Julian Beever and/or chalk art and see hundreds of examples of this very art form...

HiddenBehindShadows In reply to Freedom-Falling [2012-07-01 15:37:07 +0000 UTC]

1- That's called a wrinkle in the bag.
2-The shadows don't contrast very well against the darker green so it's hard to see them.
3-Who CARES it he's a beggar?
4-First off, 'fancy plastic bucket'? That's an oxymoron right there. He probably just found it and rinsed it out in the gutter or something. And chalks aren't all they expensive, and you can find a shit loa dog them in dumpsters.
5-Do you not see the rag on his leg? He's probable wiped his fingers off on that. And yes, certain chalks do come off like that
6-What?
7-Did it every occur to you, that in order to DRAW the image, he had to USE the chalk? The reason there's such a small mount of chalk left is because he's already USED most of it- gene the DRAWING.
8- He was probably holding cup the bucket for a few minutes, and looked over out of curiosityy when the photographer took the shot.

Learn to think of more that one fucking possibility.

OverLapingLeafs In reply to HiddenBehindShadows [2012-07-01 15:41:39 +0000 UTC]

Err.. wrinkles in bags do NOT look like that.

I don't care that it's just a photo manip, but the 'artist' should at-least say so instead of trying to con people.

Take a close look at the photo. Then look at the rest of his gallery. Pretty much EVERYTHING he's posted is a manip.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 2

gummyrabbit In reply to OverLapingLeafs [2012-07-01 17:17:51 +0000 UTC]

Looking at his gallery, I really doubt his photos are manipulations. They appear to be photoshopped and sometimes edited to hell and back after they were taken, but they are not pieced together photo manipulations. Take a look at the eleven photos of his that have gotten daily deviations (Yes, eleven. That's the only thing I have against this photo getting one). They're excellent pictures and most of them could not possibly be manipulated, and a photographer of this caliber would not just try to pass off manipulations when he could take better photos.
