Streams of light,
White dots on a black page
I wonder how you shine.

You make me question my size,
And my place
In this small pale dot
In the voidness of space.

How you work,
How you shine,
Even how you can grow
And create complex systems in you.
You leave me perplexed.

How I yearn to reach you,
To be so close to comprehend you.
Oddly, you remind me of my victories
And my failures,
Times of grandeur,
And Times of despair.
How limited I become by
My physical and
Intellectual abilities.

You make me list all of this,
Reminding me that I have lived.
I may not instantly understand it,
I may not want it to happen,
But it just is.

I think of my friends, my crushes, my enemies, my heroes, my teachers and my role models,
And I just have to accept what will happen, to me, and to them.

I accept that my friends will go separate ways,
That love will not always be corresponded,
That enemies may redeem themselves,
That heroes can fall, teachers may not always be right,
And that role models may change over time.

Moonlight rises with the Full Moon
Illuminating the lake,
The mountain,
And the forest below it.
Venus at opposition provides another showcase.
And within my grasp there is not much
That I can take, transform,
Create, construct, and change.

Because it is all like a Stream of Light.
Incompressible, beautiful, and so far away.
Everything, I wonder how you last…
