With those words the sword that was aimed at the countess's neck stopped as if by magic. A confession was the last thing the lady with the black rose needed to hear after having an internal struggle with herself, yes, the countess was her goal to eliminate but she had not counted on the fact that feelings that she had never had before would be born in her confused heart. It already became a more difficult task to have the willpower to take the life of the cursed countess, and now the sudden confession made all her gathered confidence go up in smoke.
He thought for a moment that using cruel words with her before burying the sword in her neck would make the countess hate her, she thought that this way she could push her away and that her feelings for her would change so that the task was been assigned would not be hard to finish. But even though Adelaine was cruel and contemptuous of her, Natalia's feelings remained strong.
Why? Why did Natalia have to make things complicated? Why did it has to hurt so much? Why did she have to love her?
Adelaine wanted to reciprocate those feelings, she trembled, she didn't want to hurt her beloved. But if she didn't, she knew her life would be in danger. She would die if she didn't take the life of her target.
Her eyelids began to water and she dropped the sword from her hand. No, she wouldn't kill the one she loved, but she wasn't going to stay by her side either, not after what she did, and now she had revealed her true nature. Without saying anything, she got up from the countess's lap and without looking back she hurried her step until she left the mansion. She had condemned her own life in exchange for letting live who she was supposed to die at her hands.
