This is a most intriguing scene, this mysterious Mistress of the Manor among all these shadows and dark tones, all that is except for that stark, bright white floor beneath her. She appears to be standing, hovering perhaps, over some manner of abyss and the way her dress is blown up it seems as if there is a current of ill wind blowing up from below. Her expression and way she stands and positions her hands gives me the feeling that she has beckoned us here and is silently saying, "so glad you could come ....." now that she has lured us to her lair to be drawn by her down into that emptiness below just about the moment that we see her dress drop........
