Dwarf idea: they are just a head with a giant beard that mimic arms and legs
The dwarves will look like trolls from Scandinavian cultures: Mossy, HUGE beards, extremely long arms/legs, pot-bellied, and overall grungy and hairy. They live in mounds akin to hobbit holes, but are more like burrows than furnished houses.
