we are learn from mistakes. there's a quite big discuss under the original artwork (here > greenhouse girl ) about lack of Mature Filter. I'm higly concerned about poor kids that migh be violated by the view of female body with only nipples covered and no sign of vagina (or shoud I say 'bajingo' or 'va-jay-jay'?). someone even reported it, but uh, those lazy admins didn't found it filthy enough to force me to put Mature Filter on it. shame on you admins!
so I learned my lesson and I made 3 censor types that I'll be using from now so everyone will be pleased. can't decide which one I like the most, if you could vote for your favourite one then it will be helpful let's make deviantart a better place!

now for real. some of you noticed that I started to make these funny heart censors for private parts (GENITALIAS!!! :U ) at my drawings. or sometimes I don't. why? why can't I just put mature filter at every picture that contains a nipple? because I don't find it wrong. that's why. I believe that female nipples are as appropriate as male nipples. I believe that human body is beautiful and natural and we shoudn't be shocked by view of breast or butt, we shouldn't tread it as something wrong. It's what we are. So if the character at my picture is not shown in sexual pose then I'm just placing heart stickers on private parts. Seems legit for me. But if the picture has a nudity and sexual themes then I'm putting mature filter on. Deviantart is allowed for userd 13 y/o and above so we are not talking about toddlers exposed for the view of nude people. well, even not real people only drawn ones! 13 y/o kids seen worse things, even here at dA, than naked girl with covered nipples and no vagina. it's not vulgar. it's just the body.also if dA staff members rejected the report then it means that I didn't violated service policy. To leave no doubt - I do respect service policy which says that if I want to post drawings that contain nude characters then genitalias have to be covered. here's your appropriate banana

nudity + sexual theme = Mature Filter on
my english is not fluent enough to start a discussion about using nudity in our society and positive/negative aspects of that. feel free to discuss, but I'll not join you, I made my statement about using censor in my art above. And be like Bill

I couldn't agree more, these people are terrified of natural forms that whether they like it or not, they're going to see, and they can't always hide away and pretend it doesn't exist. A nipple isn't going to traumatize a kid.

ja w wieku 13 lat, w poszukiwaniu fanartów z Kurtem Wagnerem z Xmenów, trafiłam na stronę typa, który rysował również furry, w tym homo, vore i yiff ogółem. Bardzo dużo szokujących nowości na raz. Potem szukałam ładnych furry obrazków wśród wszelakiego badziewnego yiff gówna na vcl-art. Moje oczy widziały wiele i nie przeszkodziło mi to w byciu względnie zdrowym i funkcjonującym człowiekiem 8)

Aaa ja Ci powiem, że się zgadzam z Twoją postawą. Ludzie mają problem z pokazaniem kobiecego sutka, który większość ludzi widziała już na początku swojego życia, dzieci lubią cycki, więc nie rozumiem całego tego zamieszania dookoła sutka kobiecego. Facet ma taki sam, tylko mniej spuchnięty od spodu.
Tym bardziej jak kontekst jest tak waniliowy, że aż cukrem pachnie, a są na dA arty, gdzie ludzie ubrani "gorsze" rzeczy robią, więc tym bardziej niepojęte o co tyle szumu.
Jak dla mnie dziecko może się bardziej zgorszyć oglądając telewizję, gdzie nie masz kontroli nad tym, jaka reklama Ci zaraz wyskoczy, a już wydekoltowane reklamy porównywarek cen, podejrzanych lichwiarzy pożyczających pieniądze za dziesięć złotych czy leków na potencję zdecydowanie przebijają zwykły ładny narysowany biust. Tam to dopiero cała fantazja i zdrożna finezja odnoszacych się do krocza cienko napisanych aluzji pozwala rozbudzić niedojrzałe zmysły.
Ale teraz jest jakaś paranoja około-kobieco-cielesna, że aż boli.

The male nipples are the real way to censor. But really, the human body is the human body, there is nothing inherintly sexual about nipples, especially not female nipples when men's nipples, which look pretty much the same, are not even given a second glance.

XD People need to stop getting so offended, like Jesus Christ I have came onto deviantart and seen a vagina (uncensored) on the homepage. I think people should stop worrying about someone's art, which doesn't really show anything inappropriate, and concentrate on other things.

It's a way of compromising with her belief that the drawing is not too mature and with DA's rules about nipples. By DA's rules, she would have to put a mature on it for the exposed nipples, which would cover the whole drawing and limit her art's exposure. There's a lot more to that drawing than just the nipples, it'd be a shame to have to hide all that, too, over one small aspect of it. By going ahead and covering the nipples, it's censored enough that DA considers it okay, and then she's only having to cover a small part of the drawing rather than the whole thing.

Fair enough I guess. I just think it'd be a better drawing without the heart nipples (yeah, nipples aren't everything, but y'know), even if it does mean it gets somewhat less exposure. But really, anyone who would want to see it, would be easily able to anyway, so I don't think the difference in views would be too huge.

I do agree that the hearts stick out and are a bit distracting, but I do get why she does it. I'd assume she probably posts the non-censored version on sites that have more lenient rules.
I think the main issue is that you can't click past the mature filter if you don't have an account, a lot of people do browse DA looking for professional artists for projects but don't have accounts, and therefore will just bypass the blocked images and possibly the artist entirely.

It was like that back in the day, but at some point they made it so you only need to enter your birth date, which is why I don't think it's as big of an issue. Still hides the work though and, like you said, people could just skip past it.

Perhaps because Fukari didn't do it for the purpose of censorship? Or because they went "well so long as I cover up the nipples for the oversensitive, report happy people I won't have to hear about how it's inappropriate" and thus is making the comment here that even though the censorship used was fine, now they have to be more extensive in their censorship (or down right making fun of it) because of people being too sensitive.

Anyway, that aside, wouldn't it still be better to just post uncensored art with the Mature Filter on? I mean, first of all, you wouldn't have to censor the pictures with hearts, which IMO doesn't really improve the drawing. And those that are under 18 would still be able to look at it if they really wanted to. Also no one would complain about ""inappropriate"" pictures without a mature filter.

I've seen several people get reported even with a mature filter on, simply because they didn't sensor. It's bad enough that I see many artists using both the filter and censoring, even though their art piece had nothing sexual in it.

So inspiring. I get it's a rule here but people need to stop being so touchy about mere nudity. It's not like it's a rape scene or something, that I'd understand but everyone even children will see their chest or their lil private parts pretty much every day and simple studies and expressive pictures like a naked woman floating in space shouldn't be something to be taken as inappropriate and then censored.
