You have no idea how many images I had to cross reference to get a good understanding of the sides. It eventually turned out that I couldn't do this part to scale as it just wouldn't look right from the front and the side. Anime faces are more flat than western faces, which leads to a shorter distance between the eyes and ears. If the back part went over the ears for a real person, the whole thing would need to be almost 10 cm longer, which would look weird from the side. If it was stretched that far to the back, the downward spike on the side would also not reach far enough in front to be a present part of the forward silouette.
Only solution was to shorten the side pieces. It is what it is. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
