The followings are research by Mr. Naito, and explanation about this image.
"This beautiful image entitled “Causality of Life” is illustrated by Japanese artist Yoshimi Ohtani.
This image reflects the two, good-and-bad effect of C1q.
C1q generally works to protect the body and keep youth and health through elimination of the pathogen.
However, it also accelerates the aging process through Wnt signal activation, which is the major finding in my manuscript.

The girl in the image also has two faces:
on the left-side, the girl and the background reflects youth and vivid life,
whereas on the right-side, the girl’s hair is going gray, with puffy eye and dark background which reflects the aging and death.

On the right side, the girl is with a scissors.
This scissors reflects the “cleavage activity” of complement C1s,
which works downstream of C1q to cut the extracellular domain of LRP5/6,
activate Wnt signaling and accelerate the aging process."
