Description
We travel in twos, an ancient friend and I, side by side on foot. Heat radiates from the golden sun god as we journey through our mothers heart. Rivers of water gush through her veins and as we walk over her body we discover new flesh. The dirt stains our feet red, the ground feels cool like clay and the air is new. The trees blow a fresh breeze just for us, an art they've perfected over millions of seasons. Our direction doesn't seem important and there's no urgency in our steps. Stopping at a lost water hole we drink from our hands and wet our heads and necks, slowly cooling our jaded bodies. Looking to the west we catch sight of a small mountain that seems out of place. Like a green pyramid its size and symmetry call to us like a siren. We move now with pace, ascending a beaten red track, getting closer and closer to the top of this strange mountain. Its voice gains volume, its song becomes increasingly powerful, intricate and mesmerising. The path opens and the trees clear away.We come to a plateau, before us there's a narrow white pebble earth path, on either side there's a still crystal blue spring. At the edge of the path there stands a tall pomegranate tree with and owl perched upon its branches, watching over this sacred plateau like a guardian of truth and beauty. The sun pours down like honey and shines through the water, revealing a hidden land within the spring. Plants and flowers are flourishing in this micro underwater enigma. They must be new species undiscovered that have made the spring their home, entirely submersed, adapted over millenniums. Not wanting to disturb the purity and beauty, we decide not to swim in this earth temple that the forest has hidden away from man. What is this place? A shrine, a church, a place where Poseidon and the gods gather to pray in unison. Maybe the trees built this place or a lost ancient Aztec tribe who created a temple where Tonatiuh and Atlaua collide and their power becomes one. Living under the sun god through the day, where he gives life to the fruit trees and warm blooded animals, an embrace that brightens our days but would burn us alive if we ever became too close. At night they sleep and revive with the water, who each night falls in love with the stars, reflecting their beauty, forever chasing the moons tide. Seeping into the bodies and hearts of all living things, water is the earth's blood. You can feel the energy pulsing, flowing through the elements, we are but spirits. Humbled we pray to the sun, the water, the air and the earth.
I awake and remember everything.....
