- She has memories of a brother her family claimed never existed, that she believes was killed as a child
- She does not remember the source of her powers, but has had them from an early age
- She had few friends growing up spending most of her time with her sisters
- Elphaba left town and met Jinya on the way to Caen'Da'Rich, where she was heading to learn more about her power
- She became side-tracked and after meeting Caira and Gorgnash she joined the Planescaper's guild
