Description A fantasy depiction of how the Parsee (Persian) caravans traveled and survived the deserts.

"The hot air escapes from the parched earth to the serene atmosphere of heaven,

and the vacuum is filled by the dreadful simoon,
which comes thundering over the desert in a tornado of sand.

The sirocco eddies around the lost caravan,
and covers it from the pitiless rays of the sun."

-The Sun Worshipers of Asia.

Sirocco is a hot, humid wind that originates in Northern Africa and flows into the Mediterranean basin. It can reach hurricane speeds in North Africa and Southern Europe.

Simoon is a hot, dry, violent wind that contains sand. It is caused by intense ground heating under a cloudless sky.

Simoon can be found in the deserts of Arabia and North Africa, as well as in Israel, Jordan, Iraq, Syria, and the Arabian Peninsula.

Its temperature can reach 55 °C (about 130 °F), and the humidity can sometimes fall below 10 percent.
