Description I realized that this was probably a very bad idea.

Not only was I tossing aside all my old life (or so it seemed), but I was pretty much
surrendering my free will to a prophecy I didn’t think I could fulfill.

Not to mention that the Mew would not leave me alone for a second.”Come on, silly, we got places to go, things to do... you know, right?”

I turn and see the Mew hovering above already-packed bags. I decide to respond with the blunt truth: “Mew, I’ve never had to deal with this prophecy stuff in my entire life... so no, I don’t know.”

Unfazed, Mew just says ”Well, I get that you don’t know, but regardless, you’re here now. Come on, Kyle, we have work to do.”

I chuckle and tell it “I guess I did throw myself into this, and I have nothing better to do.”

Mew laughs. ”I had a feeling you’d come around. After all…” I look towards the Mew, who was suddenly looking very serious. ”…you are the only one who can stop this world’s impending destruction.”

I take a few steps back. “Um, you never told me the world’s FATE rested on me! I- I don’t think you’ve got the right person... Please, just let me out of here and find the one who’s actually supposed to be here!” But the Mew simply chuckles. ”Silly human... don’t you know that when a Legend is dead-set on doing something, even if there’s all matter of resistance, they’ll do it? Even if it seems unbelievably impossible to everyone else?”
I shake my head as I take more steps away, for good measure. “No, nobody ever says that... not these days at least. But I’m telling you, this once, you have to find someone else! I’m not...“

Mew looks at me. ”You’re saying you’re not strong enough, yet look how far you’ve come...“ It suddenly dives in my Bag and pulls out my badge case, boasting a total of five Gym Badges. ”Five badges... and three Pokémon. It doesn’t take a genius to figure out you’re an experienced Trainer. Not to mention, all the Trainers you’ve defeated along the way. It would only make sense for you to be strong enough. And yet...“

Before Mew can continue, I point out how far I HAVEN’t come. “Mew, if I was the kid you were looking for, I’d have at least six, if not more, Gym Badges, and I don’t. Heck, I’d be the Champion by now if I was actually ‘strong enough’. So please, just leave me alone and maybe I’ll be stronger someday.”

Mew shakes it’s head. ”If you don’t help save this world, you’ll never be stronger. I need... WE need you as you are right now. You might grow stronger over this journey, but right now, I don’t care how strong you are. I’ve seen you battle, and I’ve seen how close of a bond you have with the few Pokémon you train. Not to mention I’ve seen other Legends stare at you, even follow you. But once you notice... they don’t see you again.”

It sits on a bubble it makes out of thin air as it continues speaking. ”It’s funny, you humans seem to do the same thing with us. You’re different, Kyle. There’s just something familiar about you, though... maybe you’re more than who you’re trying to be.”

I change the topic before Mew can make any connections. “Fine, so I guess Im different. But how does that make me the one you’re searching for? It doesn’t make any sense...“

Mew nods. “Your mind can’t comprehend how we see you humans and even other Pokémon... so I’ll try and give you the simple version. Have you heard of the Pokémon Lucario?”

I nod. “If you want the whole Pokédex description, it can sense living beings around it through their ‘aura’...“ Mew nods, then replies ”Yes, that’s perfect. Some of us Legends have the same ability, such as me, Arceus, and Uxie. And one thing about aura is that it shows how a creature acts. Lucario can only sense an aura’s power, but we can sense the aura’s... how do I put this... well, feeling. You have a unusually positive and strong aura, which clearly says you’re someone we need to keep an eye on.”

I stare. I had no idea how I was supposed to counter THAT, especially since I couldn’t see aura and Mew could. Which consequently meant I was stuck in this dangerous mess, regardless of whether I really was the right Trainer for the position.

Mew laughed, now back to it’s playful self, flew around me. ”You do know I that you are so much stronger than you ever thought you were, right? Because your Pokémon grew as strong as they are today because of how well you trained them. You have more potential than even this, okay?”

I nodded reluctantly. Mew giggled and left the area to give me some time to think.

But while it was elsewhere, it was wondering to itself something I had hoped to leave behind.

Why is he so worried about this when he knows he has me on his side..? And why is he so scared of Legendary Pokémon?

There’s something unbelievably familiar about his aura. Something tells me he’s not who he tells me he is...
