Alright, it seems that the last episode was pretty complex and out of most of the people I've talked to, a lot of people don't seem to get it. I'm going to tie up all the lose ends with this post.

The Code is the power of immortality, which C.C. has. The 98th Emperor of Britannia, Charles, has the Code. He transferred the Code to Lelouch while strangling him in episode 21. Lelouch wanted this, and he deliberately told Suzaku to not interfere.

However, the Code does not activate unless receiver dies first. This is shown when the nun kills C.C. after transferring the Code to her. Charle's Code activated when he shot himself. Here is one of the big misconceptions that most people have: The transfer of the Code does not involve death of the transferrer. The nun was crazy and killed herself after she transferred her code. VV was injured from the battle and died. So basically, after episode 21, Lelouch had Charle's Code (inactivated) and C.C's contracted Geass.

When Lelouch got stabbed by Zero/Suzaku at the end, his Code was activated. What supports this is that Nunnally got Lelouch's memories when she touched him, just like Lelouch did when he touched C.C. back in Narita. The only way this could have happened is his Code activating. This pretty much confirms that he has the Code.

Unlike C.C., and Charles, who lost their Geasses because the people who contracted them died, Lelouch didn't obtain C.C.'s Code and thus kept his Geass, while having the Code (which he obtained from Charles at the same time). Lelouch therefore has achieved CODE GEASS.



it makes much more sense this way no? i'm a HUMONGO lulu fan and i was content with the ending (though i did weep a lot T^T) but that explanation convinced me XP

Excuse my intrusion. <.< >.> I am aware that you did not write this but, for the sake of argument-- ^^

You have good points, but Lelouch was not dead yet when Nunnally touched him. If he must be dead before the Code activates, how could that have happened? That, and why would Charles have wanted Lelouch to receive the Code in the first place, assuming he would be the one controlling its transfer? I don't think he would have wanted to grant the son who just petty much screwed him over immortality, power, yada, yada, yada. And, in being consistant with Lelouch character, him simply running off with CC turns him into the most selfish person on the face of the Earth. He would never do that without letting Suzaku, or at least Nunnally know he was alive.

And I don't think maintaining the Geass has to do with the contractor being alive or not, in the same way that one who obtains Shinigami eyes (as in Death Note) does not lose that power if the Shinigami dies. Didn't Rolo also receive his Geass from VV (as did many others who had be slaughted by the Black Knights in previous episodes)? And his was still active up until the time he died, after VV's death. Besides, Charles himself said that he "gave up" the power of Geass to obtain the Code. He explains this to Lelouch after his son Geassed him into shooting himself. Therefore, the conclusion is that giving up the Geass is a prerequisite for obtaining the Code.

aha, you missed a few points ^^

notice that nunally didn't immediately recieve the flashback when she touched him. it happened after she did (she was holding onto him to whole time so yea XP). charles did not willingly give lelouch the code. to be honest, i'm not sure how he did but remember, cc and lelouch weren't sure either if the code was transferred to him or not. it was just a theory (and i assume that it got transfered over because of the strong intention to kill and how close the contact was...meh...) if he told nunally and suzaku, his plan is screwed. after all, nunally being nunally and suzaku being suzaku, they woudl want to help him and he knew that if he got them anymore invovled it would only cause more trouble for them. lelouch is still human and simply does not want to die. it contracdicts that 'hero' image he's supposed to have. the whole series works on contracdicting that specific image.

rolo didnt' get his geass from vv. he got it at a research lab. the geass is artificial (remember the crazy little killer children ). they're geass's are all artificial ones. charles gave up the geass for the code simply because the code grants immortality and with that, charles could rule 'forever'. this shows how lelouch rises above the limits of others since he was able to obtain both geass and the code.

However, the fact is Lelouch was still alive when she touched him, so she could have her, "Nii-sama, ai shitteru!" moment.

I find it hard to believe one could accidentally give up/recieve the Code, and given your unsure argument to this point, there is reasonable doubt.

What plan? He was already dead. Zero Requiem was completed with his death. He cares about no one in the world more than those two. There was no risk in his telling them if he was alive. (This is, though, assuming that he did live in the first place.) And they would understand if he had to leave them, though they certainly wouldn't be happy about it. I do not think he would run off with CC as most fans suggest. That would be the most selfish, most bastardly thing to do, and Lelouch is not a selfish person. If he was, he would have let the world screw itself and chosen another way rather than Zero Requiem.

As for Rolo, you win that one. I wasn't sure.

Lelouch cannot "rise above the limits of others," because he is human as well. He has his own limits and flaws, as are very evident in the show. Just because he did not have the same motivation as Charles does not mean is a god. Do not make him sound like one.

he's not a god. i'm just saying, it shows how lelouch was able to achieve what others couldn't. and it would screw up his plan if he was found to be alive because the world became peaceful because of his death. when he 'died', an entire world of hatred 'died' along with him (since he directed it all at himself). if he was found to be alive, people would start to have different views on the matter and disagreements would break out again.

at the beginning of the series, lelouch only cares abotu nunally and suzaku but slowly, he begins to realize that those two aren't the only people that matter in his life. remember, he mentioned that he wasn't fighting for nunally only anymore, he was fighting for those who believed in and supported him. i dont' think lelouch is being selfish by running away with cc. the impact of his death on nunally and suzaku left them with a lesson and contributed to their character development. and like you said, lelouch IS still human and naturally, humans are adraid of death and don't want to die. he ended up surviving in the end (in my view XP) but he still took the risk of losing his life for the sake of the rest of the world.

like i said, nunally was holding onto him practically THE ENTIRE TIME. so she first touched him and he was still alive. then he died in her arms. then the code activated. THEN she recieved the flashback.

and back to the running away with cc thing again: cc is technically the only person he can live with for the rest of his life because shes the only one that completely understands him. he made a contract with her remember? and he's also supposed to fulfill her 'wish' so he has to stay with her.

I don't think so. Most of this doesn't even have to do with the original argument.

It's not like Nunnally and Suzaku would tell the world, "Hey gaiz, Lulu lives~! " They understand that. And he would trust them not to, too.

He did not die before Nunnally got the flashback. She got the flashback, understood what was going on, says her "Nii-san, ai shitteru," and Lelouch responds "I know." He can't talk if he's dead.

CC's wish was to die, if you recall.

then i say, lelouch get stabbed, nunally catch him, lelouch dying, lelouch dies, nunally gets flashback, lelouch comes back to life, nunally goes "nii-san, aishiteru!', lelouch goes 'i know', then pretends to die agian . i don't see how nunally would get that flashback if it wasn't from lulu obtaining the code.

cc's wish is to die HAPPILY and being alone doesn't let you die a happy death...usually...

and nunally and suzaku will probaly not tell the world but again:

1. he doens't want them to get involved any further. his death cuts them off from the world of geass. suzaku has enough to keep as a secret (keeping his life a secret cuz if revealed, disputes will break out again and everything they did was pointless).

2. his death impacts them in a way that helps their character develop.

There's a possibility it wasn't an actual, physical flashback. Simply her realizing what he did, and understanding why.

There is more than one official source that says he's dead anyway. Half those points aren't even relevant, because they have to do with what he would do if he was alive, which he's not.

well i don't think nunally's smart enough to come up with that in less than 10 min XP

and yea, i noticed that i did make those points, assuming that he lived but still XP well, in a way, the ending is supposed to be left to your own interpretation. i just think that that explanation i first posted was the most reasonable than him dying XP in my opinion, lelouch is still a coward in his fear of death and that contradicts that 'erfect hero' image that most stories despict. then again, i'm sure you haven't had a near death experience so neither of us can even began to imagine that fear (unless you did, then i take my statement back). everything humans are afraid of is linked to death.

yea, and that TOTALLY explains her being ignorant of everything her brother and suzaku were involved in =__= i'm sorry but i really don't think she could've figured it out in like, 5 min XP and plus, even if she did, they woudl just show her thinking to herself, they wouldn't show the exact flashback moment. the fact that they showed hte exact moment shows that she 'saw' that moment happen
