Here's the first chapter of my AU story! For someone who usually hates their writing, I really like how this came out! I hope everyone enjoys

Chapter 1
Welcome to Earth

It was a sunny day around noon, GJ and Sketchy were headed to grab some lunch. Their hooves tapped against the sidewalk as they trotted along. GJ was ahead of Sketchy, they hadn't been able to hang out for a long time and she was hungry. So couldn't wait to get to the restaurant.

Sketchy panted, "Slow down! The whole point of this trip is to hang out and you're leaving me behind."

GJ slowed down and allowed Sketchy to catch up with her, "Sorry, Sketch. I didn't have breakfast this morning, I'm starving." She said as her stomach grumbled.

They were outside of a video and music shop where a radio was playing. The song that was playing suddenly stopped and a warning sound blared, followed by an announcement. They stopped in their tracks, it was hard for them to hear. GJ was silent. Sketchy moved her ears slightly in an attempt to hear what the announcer was saying, but she could only hear bits and pieces of it.

"...inside!" The announcer on the radio yelled.

"There's-" radio static washed out the announcer's message for a few seconds.

"..the area. Everyone needs to lock their doors and cover every window.

"What was it talking about?" GJ asked.

Sketchy didnt answer, her ears tilting back and fourth. There was a faint humming sound, but she couldn't figure out where the noise was coming from.

"Probably just the weather." GJ said.

"Shh." Sketchy said, but she didn't speak loud enough for GJ to hear her.

"Maybe a storm." GJ continued.

Sketchy turned her head to look back over her shoulder.

"GJ...." Sketchy said with fear in her voice. A round shadow slowly covered the two ponies.

"Do you think there's a storm coming Sketchy?" GJ babbled on, unaware of Sketchy's concern. "Sketch-"

"GJ, look!" Sketchy put a hoof to the freckled cheek of the purple unicorn, turning her head to look back. Their eyes met a shiny, white drone floating just a few steps behind them.

"Oh my-" GJ was cut off as two panels on the front of the drone suddenly flew open and a rope net was launched at them. Right before it landed on them, they were knocked out of the grasp of the net and into the desolate street. GJ landed on Sketchy's back and another pony landed next to them on their hindquarters. It was a mare, she had a blonde mane and a light blue coat.

"That was a close one." The mare stated, out of breath. Before the trio could catch their breath, the drone suddenly sped towards them.

"Look out!" The mare yelled right before she leaped back to where the net had landed. GJ and Sketchy leaped in the other direction. The drone turned around, the blackened windshield faced them again.

"Grab this end of the net!" The mare yelled over to them. They galloped over as the drone swooped down to where they once stood. They grabbed ahold of the net and swung the weights of the net onto the drone, cracking the windshield. The net fell to the ground as the drone flew off.

"Phew, that was a close one." The mare caught her breath while wiping her brow. The trio walked over to where the net laid, their eyes fixed upon it. GJ looked off in the distance in the direction the drone flew, then back down at the net.

"Who was that?" She asked.

"That question would be best answered back at my office. We aren't safe here." The mare said with concern in her voice. "Follow me."

The mare turned, and headed up the street. Sketchy and GJ followed behind her.
