Excerpt from Hazel’s Journal:

“Heh, these two. Where do I even begin?

One was raised on an island by early lemurs, and the other grew up on the harsh mainland with an even harsher brother. Both of them would become the ones to lead the Valley Herd to where it is now.

When I first met the herd, I had to deal with the then leader Kron. He probably would’ve sent me away no matter what I said if it weren’t for Neera’s intervention, mainly because she was his sister (big shock, I know). It was a few days later when I met Aladar and his family.

While he, like every prehistoric creature I’ve met since I gained my ability to speak to them, was shocked by my appearance, we hit it off pretty well, and we’ve been friends ever since.

No, not friends. Family.

Since I met him, Aladar has essentially become the big brother I never had. Aside from Flia, he and I have been through everything together, from the migration during my first solo adventure, to now as leaders (or future leader, in my case). Hell, it is his compassion that kind of put me on the path of reconciling with my own family, more specifically my mother, Beth. Granted, it wasn’t until one Christmas that I finally decided to reconnect, but you get the picture.

These days, I like to think about how far we have come since that fateful solo mission. I’m in charge of my own crew now, Aladar and Neera have kids of their own (I’m the proud aunt of several kids ), and the residents, both carnivore and herbivore, are more united than ever.

The future is bright for us all!”
