Thanks for the feedback on Fox Shop. This has made me include my ORIGINAL watercolour that inspired Fox Shop. It was painted 2 or 3 years ago and is based on an actual shop!If anyone wants to view older work please visit my website [link] or like me on Facebook [link]

The concept is cute, but the variety of animals perplexes me. Tales, like the "Franklin" TV series (Hardly read the original books, so I dunno if turtles are majorly dominant in there.), often tend to do the same thing to me.
The fact that the chicken is wearing something makes me believe that she has the same intellectual spirit of a human, so wouldn't she dislike selling her offspring as food? And what is the joyous mouse standing besides and how did it live its life?

Hmm...I see your point....I'll give you a contemporary spin to dilute your concerns....
As for the joyous mouse...it has found the meaning of life is to dance on a jar of pickle....

This is amazing work! From the detailed store, to the vibrant colors, to the lively characters, everything is drawn beautifully!
I love the fact that this piece is portrayed in "old school" style, as others have said, as it brings back the good times when stores were simple, shopkeepers were friendly and personal, and the atmosphere of the store was so much more unique at each one! Lovely illustration as well, as in the older children's books! I don't see much illustrations like these anymore, and frankly I think we need more for our generation's children!

Believe it or not this is based on an actual shop I know!! Although there is some artist license used
Illustrations like these don't seem to be in vogue anymore which is sad as they provoke many happy childhood memories for people.... The only publisher I'm aware of that still promotes this style is the Folio Society....

It reminds me of those picture in children books that my mom used to read to me when I was a little .I would spend a long time expecting every little detail in it .

It's a mix of old and new actually....a lot of techniques I use are from late 19th - early 20th century....I'm trying to bring them back to life!
