“Beauty in the waiting” Oil on Canvas 30 in x 40 in 2020

This self portrait was born from a trying and very difficult time in my life.

During this time it was very hard to do any art.

After I look back now, slowly stepping out, I see that there was great beauty in this hard time.
I think suffering can shape us to become more beautiful on the inside if we allow it.
To be more sensitive and consoling of others pain.

I do not regret having the experience I had even though it was very heavy, and now I am deeply thankful for it since I am now a better and completely different person.

I wanted this painting to be a reminder to myself to always trust that there is a light with me in the dark, even though it may not be visible at the time.
That the beauty born out of the ugliness is unimaginable and that it is waiting patiently for me, both on this side and the other.
