Description
When I made my original Merida costume, I thought about adding some flair, but decided to keep it fairly true to the Disney/Pixar design. My desire for a fancy Merida gown didn't go away, so I decided to make an Italian Renaissance version!

I used Simplicity 8735 as a starting point but made a ton of changes - the biggest one being that my dress is comprised of three layers (chemise, under dress, over dress) instead of sewn altogether as one dress. The under dress laces on the sides and the bodice was strengthened with thick interfacing to mimic the "cardboard" used at the time. The over dress laces using rings. I also made the jewelry and the headpiece.
