Description
This may be my most intricate digital art piece yet. I spent days working on it, in total about 100 hours. The horse is made from so many pieces of various horses, at least 8 horses, none of which were this color. The color is made completely in Photoshop. The tail alone is made with about 7 different pieces. You will recognize my daughter, Priya as the 'model'. Her dress is made from scratch, a figment of Photoshop's imagination. Priya's Flickr photostream is here: www.flickr.com/photos/priya_papriiika/
After some feedback from viewers, I changed the shape of the horse, making it's size more in alignment with the scale of the rider. Priya prefers the original version with the horse as a stallion, so I've changed it back again to the original version. Here is a link to a small Flash animation I made of both versions. I welcome your opinions:

Very great artwork!
However, it would absolutely perfect, if the left hoof were surrounded a little more with the fog I think It looks a bit to... Edgy
However very good work!

This is absolutly amazing, I love the color of the horse and the detail in the mane and tail. The only problem I have with it is that the girl is sitting pretty far back, in real life it would be hard to ride a canter like that bareback sitting so far back. But other than that is is awesome!

Interesting. I had a discussion with another artist about how in art, things need to be even more realistic than in actual life, ie: if you take a photograph, sometimes a leg will be tucked behind at such a strange angle that it looks truncated. Even lighting can sometimes be cast in a way that distorts a shape, but in our ordinary life, our brains complete the picture, fill in the blanks.
But art doesn't has an added challenge. People scrutinize an image closely and because the scene is frozen in the moment, even the tiniest detail or flaw will become magnified. I made this piece awhile back, and although I see how it could be improved, I rarely go back and rework an image. I just take care not to repeat the same mistake in future art. This also allows me to look back and see the progression of my skills over time.

wow yeah i guess thats pretty correct and ive never thought of that before. well its crossed my mind but sometimes it takes someone else to point it out...
Oh and i love looking in peoples galleries from the older artworks to the newer ones and seeing how much they have improved, its pretty amazing.

Sorry in taking so long to reply, I've been buried in work. I tried clicking on the link you sent but didn't see my art, but maybe that's because it took me so long the page might have changed since then.
Thank you soooo much for notifying me about someone using my art. I really appreciate it!!

It is SO well done! Your time and effort really paid off!
Since you asked for feedback, the only thing I have to say is that the rider is just sitting too far back on the horse, but that doesn't have to be a big thing lol.
Great amazing job!

You have a very interesting way of photomanipulating photos and mixing them very well with art. I'm amazed by how you can pull off such wonderful art/photo pieces while making them very believable to the naked eye. A many hours of mad work was put into this piece and it's result stands out very well so excellent job as I commend you on your efforts.

I absolutely love this. I just wanted to say that first off. Gorgeous piece and I can respect all the time you've put into it. One thing bugs me though and I mean no disrespect. The lighting on your daughter and the lack of shadow concerning her presence on the horse, plus the lack of shadow on the ground. Gives it kind of a 2-D perspective. Again, I love it though. Well done.

Yes, you are right. This is an earlier piece and I've learned a lot more about lighting since. I rarely go back and fix art that I've already created. Instead I just make sure that I do a better job in new art I create. Thanks for your honest input. Cheers!

your Welcome. I am goinmg to start going by my middle name, Marie. I love horses and I am planning on getting a horse. Gotta find some low cost land first. Not much left. To much of it is only for retail. I hate it.
Sincerely-
Marie
P.S.-
Rosalie is just from the books twilight. People say I look like her.
