I don't really see why not, They are both roughly the same age, both really good friends, and both need each others help sometimes. Whats the matter with a same sex pairing?
I respect opinions, but there is nothing wrong with this ship. If this was anti CelestiaXLuna, or anti ApplebloomXBig Mac or something like that, i'd totally agree. because those ships are just.....wrong. But these two pegasi...

Another reason is cuz Rainbow Dash needs someone to calm her down and Fluttershy needs someone to protect her

They can be opposites, but Rainbow treats Shy a little rude.
I bet she don't care that much about her, true, Rainbow had won a race for Fluttershy, but Pinkie Pie cares more, much more about Fluttershy.
If we follow the "opposites atract" thing, the only shippings that would make sense is Twidash, Flutterdash, Flutterpie, Raridash, Rarijack, Twinkie and pairings like those.
They were good friends since fillies because they are both pegasi and they were much probably family friends.
Their friendship make them look like sisters, not lovers.
I bet Fluttershy don't appreciate really much Rainbow.
I sincerely prefer all the other pairings. But i see your point. It makes sense. I just think Rainbow is too rude for Fluttershy, Shy needs someone with patience that will cheer up her in the best way.

Because of the way Dash treats Fluttershy. I can see them as sisters, but NEVER as lovers. I prefer PinkieDash and Flutterjack. Rainbow Dash would never be soft for Fluttershy.

Because Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash are too opposite to feel any sexual attraction towards each other. Fluttershy is too kind for her own good, and Dash is brash and overly honest. They wouldn't get along romantically. Rainbow would be protective of her in any relationship she got it, and probably wouldn't give Fluttershy the freedom she needs if they were ever to be in a relationship. Applejack, however, is patient, reliable, and hardworking, and a much better match.
