You remember when I said no-one died during Daybreaker’s attempted murder of the Mane 6’s families? Well.... that’s not entirely accurate. Discord had just laid Dess’ egg when Daybreaker broke in. He protected Fluttershy and the egg with his life. Daybreaker killed him and left to go attack Twilight. Discord’s last words were: “You can move on. Just make sure she knows who she is...”

So, was this an excuse to ship Fluttershy with someone else? Oh, definitely. But is it also an interesting bit of lore to the Winterverse? No, no not really.
