An Au I've had planned out for a while, Oni Kai and Nya.

Backstory: Born of Omega, Kaito and Nyad(Their real names) were twins who saw the war between Oni and Dragon as a pointless endeavor with no worthwhile outcome. As children, they followed the young First Spinjitzu Master when he left the First Realm, remaining hidden from his sight until they arrived in the Never Realm. There, the three of them bonded and eventually arrived in the Realm that would be home to Ninjago. There, they would be gifted the Elemental Powers of Wind and Water respectfully.

Powerful in their own right, with their meager training and understanding of their powers, they were no match for Wojira, until Nyad merged with the sea temporarily to put Wojira to sleep. Shortly afterwards, Kaito would gift the powers of Wind on to another and with Nyad, helped the First Spinjitzu Master forge the four golden weapons, though they also forged two sets of armour, the Golden Armour of Kaito and Nyad. The two of them helped the First Spinjitzu Master create Ninjago where they seeded dark matter within the depths of Ninjago.

When The Overlord arose to challenge the First Spinjitzu Master, Kaito and Nyad donned their golden armour and fought side by side with the First Spinjitzu Master, though well trained in their elemental abilities by now, victory was not achieved and the fight delayed as the Dark Island was split of from the mainland, the dark matter they had seeded deep within Ninjago's depths was now lost to them. When the three Oni Warlords arrived to kill the First Spinjitzu Master, both Kaito and Nyad, now going by the names Kai and Nya, helped fend them off, helping convince Mystake to help protect Ninjago. The two would continue to help the First Spinjitzu Master before settling down as blacksmiths, Kai would also be gifted the Elemental Powers of fire by this time.

By the time of the Serpentine War, the two had taken on the young Ray and Maya as their apprentices. While they left the two to take of the Four Weapons, Kai and Nya joined the Elemental Alliance in fighting back the Serpentine, earning the respect of the Anacondrai whilst they were feared by the Hypnobrai and Fangpyre. They would also help fight the Time Twins before forging the time blades. They would eventually return to the Four Weapons before Kai would depart with Lilly to Shintaro in the hopes of learning the Spinjitzu Burst, there he would come to be known as Gai and Mai. He would also be the one known for forging the Blades of Deliverance.

Eventually, the two would be approached by Wu who hoped they'd join him in his search for the four golden weapons and obtain them before Garmadon, of which Kai agreed to help once Garmadon had Nya kidnapped. The two of them joining Wu and the Ninja for many adventures. When the Oni eventually returned, with their father at the head, they donned their golden armour and fought back the Oni Invasion letting their true forms be seen by all.
