Description WIP of my Alternis model.
You may have noticed that his proportions are different from my norm.
I actually used myself as a base!

Nice work! I did kinda the same thing for My armour - Frederick from Fire Emblem Awakening.

From here did you import it into Pepakura to papercraft? Or use pepakura printouts as templates for EVA? I see allot of curves and I've honestly never dealt with those in Blender or Pepakura... this might be useful knowledge for future builds, actually; polygons can only go so far and don't transfer well to EVA. Sorry if this is a vague question but seeing this made me feel like I might be missing something.

Sorry for the late reply dood.

My original intention was to export it to PepaKura and use it as a template for EVA foam.
And then cover the form in stretch vinyl.

As for the curves, I tried to limit the curves in one angle (like the chest piece).
However for more complex bits like the helmet and shoulder armor, I intended to do the multi-direction curves by making them in strips. Not the cleanest way...

I never did make this cosplay though as I grew to dislike this version. I have since been designing a more refined version that would will make the curves easier hopefully

I'll post some art of it once I finish it.

No probz!

I did the same - exported to Pepakura, but then I went and made it out of cardstock to then be reinforced by fiberglass. The thing with Pepakura tho is sometimes you think your model is fine, then it goes and reads it completely wrong. These usually small errors on my part but yeah, I only just learned blender to do this cosplay (Frederick)

I got the curves on my armour by smoothing over polygonal edges with bondo once i had hte fiberglass shell all done. It turned out good but oh man, it took forever. EVA is definitely better for Alternis.

I was also somewhat considering Alternis Dim! I'm taking a break from armour for the next few months / year maybe but I hope you'll get back to it! I love his design although I probably haven't dissected it as much as you surely have lol, I'm sure it has more quirks than meets the eye.

Keep us posted!

Heh will do!

Also if you're interested, this is the foam + vinyl approach I was talking about.
The bonus is that the armor is still flexible.
