Sure, this may LOOK like a sketch, but that's part of its charm--all the extra sketches around the outlines give it character and depth, if you ask me. What's more, they don't detract from the character's expressions, making it easy to see what's going through their heads (Lexi's playful-yet-sensual smile, along with Ace's bemused/hesitant expression, are what sell it for me ).

I also like the casual-yet-close pose you went for. You don't have to be overly romantic or intimate to convey a "couple" feel to a pic...and this one demonstrates that fact nicely.
