Details

Personality:

Introverted | Awkward | Intelligent

Ailm possesses a seemingly serious disposition, at least to those she doesn’t know well, but this is merely because she is rather withdrawn, and prone not to betray emotion. She takes pleasure in the simple things in life, and finds no need for extravagance or luxury. She is aware of her status, and minds her place, but in truth the hierarchy in Glenmore simply doesn’t concern her much. She does as her superiors order, while easily shrugging off any insult or shame regarding her rank and appearance.

Ailm is fond of the arts, however. If there is any yearning to be of a higher status in her heart, it is only so that she might have the power to surround herself with beauty and talent. She attends performances that are open to commoners, but these are few and far between.

She is an admirer of all things natural, and appreciates Glenmorian magic for how it connects the herd with the earth. She is fascinated by the arcane in general, and wonders about how it ties into fawnling-kind’s history, religion, and divided cultures.

Appearance:

Ailm is built of lithe stature, and average height. Her coat is mid-toned, with fine dapples and contrasting fawn markings. Her snout is narrow with a slight roman curve, giving her a mature, angular face. A single, dark horn grows between two rich, brown eyes. Her hair she permits to grow wild. The untamed locks possess a natural bend, and she tends to weave herbs into them.

Ailm walks quickly, though lacks some grace. She stumbles from time to time, and can become easily lost, as her attention is often directed elsewhere. Her gaze tends to wander nearly as much as her mind, and she will, from time to time, catch herself staring at something or someone for longer than is considered proper, much to her embarrassment.

On the whole, though, she makes it a point not to stand out too much with her looks. She hardly desires the attention, from does and stags alike.

History:

Ailm was born to a pair of commoners. Her sire, Duna, was a friendly presence in her upbringing, but his involvement was minimal. Her dam, Saille, was quite young when she fell pregnant, but nevertheless motherhood seemed to come naturally to her. Ailm bonded closely with her mother, as they wandered the Glenwood together, weaving between commoner territory and the deeper reaches of the forest.

Ailm rarely had any contact with royalty, and as she grew to have a better grasp of Glenmore’s societal structure, preferred it that way. She also never had many friends, apart from her dam, and so has learned to take comfort in solitude. Because of this she became a deep thinker, but a light talker. Since her youth, her mother has moved on, bearing two more fawns from different stags, while Ailm has only become more of a loner, and has yet to bear any children. She shows her face in the markets from time to time, though, and always when a performance is going on.

Ailm has lead a safe, healthy life thus far. She and Saille, like everyone else, endured heartbreak and struggle during the war, but the two came out of it without any trauma, thanks to their ability to take solace in one another. They lived together for a longer stretch of time than most fawns stay with their mothers, due to their developed friendship. It was only after Saille met a new stag that Ailm decided it was time for them to part ways.

In recent years, Ailm has engrossed herself in an unusual area of expertise in Glenmore (at least, for a doe): she has become a student of history, culture and myth. She works with magic, and learns what she can of herbs, but these hobbies are merely practiced to supplement her learning.
