sculpture made by myself, Michael Priester
wood is Cocobolo, Dalbergis retusa, from Costa Rica.
This is one of the finest timbers in the world.
It is only allowed to work with pieces fallen from a tree or rescued from the water.
This piece is one of thos and I received it as a gift from a sculptor in CR.
It is actually quite difficult to see the torso as such in the photo as the vein and color of the wood outshine the shape.
size is 14 x 38 x 14 cm,
the face is sculpted, grinded, polished and oiled, the backside is still rough and weathered.
