In memory of a fanfiction I read a while back.
Maybe someone can help me find it? I can't seem to track it down for another read!

What I remember:
After Ozai banished Zuko, he wanted to have a powerful son for the thrown, despite still having a daughter like himself, and so, he listened around and heard about Her (OC). As the most talented fire-bender other than Ozai and his brother, Ozai quickly decided to use her to produce a new heir. He didn't care if she refused to fire-bend ever again (for some strange reason), he only needed her promising genetics.
However, despite her doing as ordered and going onto Admiral Zhao's boat to go see the Fire Lord, there was no way she (OC) would marry such an old man, even if he was a Lord, so she tried to escape many time, failing each time.
Luckily, when Zhao ran into Prince Zuko and his Uncle, the elder man didn't accept her predicament either. Iroh protested and commanded Zhao to hand the young woman over, saying he'd hand her over to the Fire Lord himself when they deliver the Avatar.
Strangely enough, and for reasons unknown, Ozai actually agreed to his brother's conditions. By letter, of course.
No one except the young woman knew she was to marry the Fire Lord, and no one but her knew it was the Fire Lord's way of saying it was her last few months of freedom. When she steps foot in his palace, she wouldn't be able to leave again.
So, she was still determined to escape her fate of being married to such an old man.

Still, the longer she traveled with Zuko and his uncle, the less valid her reason for not marrying the Fire Lord became, because every day, she seemed to fall more and more for a man who was even older -- the Fire Lord's brother -- Iroh.
