Two Spirit: A blanket term for certain culturally distinct genders within Native American and Canadian First Nations indigenous groups. It describes people within these groups who fulfill mixed traditional gender roles. Some two-spirited people consider themselves transgender, nonbinary, or LGBTQ+ while others do not. Non-natives cannot use this identity, as doing so would be a form of cultural appropriation, which is very disrespectful.
