I can see years of regret washing through Squirrelflight's gaze. She's already tired as is, and now she realizes what a mistake it was to take Leafpool's children as her own. She can only gaze at Jaykit with a dead look, which is yet alive with so much to say. 'I'm going to have a mental breakdown and throw you off the side of the camp,' or 'I'm just going to give you back to Leafpool right now' are two of the many things you can see in her gaze. She's truly missing the life of a warrior and never really was prepared to care for kittens. She sees Hollykit next to Jaykit, and she watches her niece's amused looks and only thinks 'Screw you Crowfeather. You should have never made it through the Journey.' Instead of doing anything to discipline Jaykit, she just sits there and stares, maybe cries a bit. It's clear this has happened before. Many times before.
