Description
Rhen is my character in the current Dungeons & Dragons campaign I'm playing.
She is a wizard of the tiefling race.
Like so many of her race, Rhen has had a difficult life, growing up in the poor Tiefling quarter of Waterdeep. Orphaned at a young age, her father not even present at her birth, and her part-time prostitute mother murdered by a jealous client, Rhen learned to survive the hard way. Stealing when she could, doing odd jobs here and there to just get enough to eat, misery was a constant companion, and became the norm for her. Having seen what happened to her mother, and knowing that her father abandoned them, her way of dealing with others is to never trust them.
She became aware of her magical abilities early on, and, for a time, believed they were just normal. If someone angered her, she would not lash out immediately, knowing that to do so would alert them to her powers, and invite trouble from others. Instead she would follow them home, and then sting them with fire, or conjure cockroaches and other vermin into their home.
When she was 15, however, she did this to the wrong person. Someone who had a contact with the Watchful Order of Magists and Protectors. On her tricking such a person, his friend within the guild traced her, and brought her under magical shackles to the guild house. At first she resisted, but when they saw her potential, and offered her the chance to be off the streets and to get a warm meal in her belly every night, she relented, and agreed to stay.
And so she received training from the mages there for a time, most importantly, learning to read and write, an essential skill for a wizard. But the disciplined life and the familiarity of the same faces in her environment every day made her uneasy. Conversations with others in the guild house, and reading various books within the guild's extensive library taught her that there was a wider world out there, not just beyond the guild house, but beyond Waterdeep itself.
And so after two years within the confines of the guild, and seeking a life on the road, she left to begin her life as an adventurer.

Rendered in Daz Studio, she is based off JASA's "Flynn" Genesis 8/8.1 character (as was Sansa, another of my girls).
The skin was modified by editing the base colours in Surfaces.
