Taken from "The Crystal Cave," BBC, 1990. The kid, Thomas Lambert, was great in this role as Merlin! Lady Stewart was a genius--she explained that Merlin was the only child of Aurelius, Uther's elder brother. That makes Merlin the cousin of Arthur, and the only reason Merlin never took the crown was because he was a royal bastard. (In actual history, King Henry VIII had the same problem. He had a bastard son he named Fitzroy, but only Edward could assume the throne.)
