Here's Yan Lin in Elemental Mage form. I like how in her final design she's more feminine and has buns, resembling her grand-daughter. On both the initial concepts she has short hair and warior-ish look, similar to her official Guardian outfit.

A secret curse cast by Nihila has been activated!

"Should the Guardians defeat me, at the 700th day from my death I will return stronger than ever, along with all dead villains W.I.T.C.H. have ever met!"

However Nihila prefered to work with people who she could more or less trust, so she decided to exclude two persons from the spell: Phobos - the man who betrayed his sister, and Nerissa - that crazy woman who killed a member of her own team. Surprisingly, Cassidy and Halinor get revived too, because in Nerissa's eyes they lately were "villains", as she had to share the power of the Heart with them.
The curse says "stronger than ever", so the 2 former Guardians return powered-up, in the "Elemental Mage" transformation. However, Cassidy and Halinor are on the good side, don't become a part of the evil group.
Himerish explains to Halinor that during the years he thought a lot about CHYKN's case and in a moment he realized that it wasn't fair to kick the former Guardians of Fire and Earth out of Kandrakar, but at that time Halinor was already deceased and the stubborn Kadma wouldn't listen to him. Halinor replied that it's not the time to talk about that right now.

The Guardians after W.I.T.C.H. tried to fight the evil but failed, causing all five of them to get on the edge between life and death, send back to Kandrakar for magical treatment and later the new Keeper passed away. That proved that a team of 5 members isn't enough to deal with this situation. So W.I.T.C.H. were summoned to help Kandrakar once again, and princess Elyon, Yan Lin and Kadma had to join Cassidy and Halinor as a second group of Guardians while Himerish, Tibor, Endarno and the others are watching over Kandrakar. Kadma agreed only because the case is really serious and they shouldn't allow the evil to win. W.I.T.C.H., Elyon, Kadma and Yan Lin needed to upgrade their power level to be able to fight all those villains. In order to earn the Elemental Mage form, the heroines had to establish a connection to the very first guardians.

It turns out that one of the first Guardians ever is a very distant relative to Nerissa, so the only way WITCH could get her help is to connect with the spirit of their old enemy. They do that and the corrupted former Keeper agreed to help them, causing the heroines + herself to earn the new transformation. The ancient Guardians warned WITCH that this upgrade may have horrible consequences, but at that moment the heroines thought they would pay any price to stop the evil.

It's revealed that the seeking revenge Nerissa helped WITCH only in order to return to life and get an "Elemental Mage" form. She found Nihila and killed the sorceress, rage that Nihila didn't revived her as well. She wanted to fight WITCH again as well, but her friends somehow managed to convince her to finally stop with this.

All of this happens while W.I.T.C.H. are currently dealing with big problems in their personal life:

- Will's father returned to Heatherfield after he spent the money given by Kadma and found out about WITCH's supernatural powers
- Taranee's brother - Peter suffered an accident and entered a coma state
- Cornelia's family is tearing apart day by day, her parents' relationship is threatened by divorce, as the new teacher in Shefield is an old love interest of Elizabeth and Harold got jelaous, assuming that the two of them have renewed their relationship
- Irma's father lost his job
- Hay Lin's family is about to lose their restaurant and she may have to sacrifice the funds for her college

Just when the two teams managed to defeat the villains (with the help of Sixtar and CHYKE's robot) and thought it's over, WITCH's astral drops appeared, in the same new form like the Guardians.
"We've got new appearances... started new lives... met friends... found the love... And then, one day everything got ruined, as we found ourselves in your ugly bodies again, and in these stupid pixie outfits!" - they explained trough rage and tears. - "It looks like there's place for only one version of us in this universe!"

"I knew giving these a chance was a bad idea." - Irma muttered. Guardians and astral drops started fighting, but it turns out that they just can't defeat theirselves. So they escaped and went to Kandrakar to ask for advice. Elyon returned to Meridian in case she has to defend her kingdom.

The Oracle explains that as the sourse of magic of WITCH and the astral drops is the same, it's useless because Kandrakar can't fight and win against itself. The only way the astral drops could be defeated is by other astral drops - the Fusion ones.

The spell for creating the Fusion astral drops is very dangerous, as it drain both the physical and magical strenght of the participants. In order the elements to combine and the new astral drops to be born, both teams of Guardians must enter a coma state. The fusion drops will have a limited time to fight, and if any of them dies, her two "parent Guardians" dies too.

So the elements combine, bringing to life 5 new girls:

Sam - Keeper of the Heart and Guardian of Shadow, fusion of Will and Cassidy.
Hazel - Guardian of Spirit, fusion of Hay Lin and Nerissa.
Leah - Guardian of Time, fusion of Irma and Halinor.
Tamara - Guardian of Mineral, fusion of Taranee and Kadma.
Rose - Guardian of Gravity, fusion of Cornelia and Yan Lin.

Luckily the fusion astral drops managed to defeat WITCH's evil copies. After their time was up, S.H.L.T.R. dissapeared. W.I.T.C.H. and C.H.Y.K.N. woke up and found out that the mission is successful. "Thank you." - they thought, grateful to the fusion drops. Meanwhile five new stars appeared on the sky.

"Cassidy, Halinor and Nerissa, you're dead for the people on Earth, but you're welcome to stay in Kandrakar as honorable members of the Council. Dear Kadma, Kandrakar's doors will be always open for you as well." - Himerish said after it all was finally over.
"Thank you sir, but I still have work to do on Earth. Will is gonna need my help to deal with her father." - she replied.
"But what...?! Nerissa in Kandrakar?! The killer?! The betrayer?!" - some Council members started protesting.
"Silence, please!" - the old Oracle demanded. - "Lately Nerissa proved to be changed for the better, she helped a lot in the mission. Everyone deserves a second chance."

Will's father got locked up in a clinic, people assuming that his stories about supernatural powers are a product of mental and alcoholic problems.
Peter woke up from the coma.
Cornelia's mother managed to convince her husband that he's the only man in her life.
Irma's father got hired in another police station.
Hay Lin saved the "Silver Dragon" thanks to a charity event organized by Cornelia.
